Devotional Folk Dance Track ‘Thaari Jogan’ By Mannan Shaah Trends Strong Amid Remix-Dominated Music Landscape
At a time when recreated versions and remixed sounds dominate charts, music composer Mannan Shaah is drawing widespread attention with an original composition rooted in tradition yet embraced by contemporary audiences. His latest track 'Thaari Jogan', a devotional folk-inspired dance number from The Kerala Story 2, is steadily gaining traction across digital platforms, emerging as a growing favourite among listeners, choreographers, and dance creators.

Inspired by the rhythmic vibrancy of Rajasthani traditions, 'Thaari Jogan' blends devotional undertones with high-energy arrangements designed to encourage movement and performance. The composition reflects Shaah's distinctive musical identity-where classical sensibilities, regional influences, and modern production techniques merge seamlessly-while retaining the festive spirit associated with traditional dance forms.
Since its release, the track has recorded notable engagement across platforms. The official video has crossed over 4 million organic views on YouTube, while the track has collectively surpassed 50 million hits across digital platforms, including streaming services and short-form video content. Its energetic rhythm and expressive structure have encouraged widespread participation, inspiring over 3,500 dance covers, particularly among performance groups exploring culturally rooted choreography.
Adding freshness to the composition is debutant vocalist Shaoni, while lyrics written by Sahil Sultanpuri capture the storytelling essence of traditional narratives while preserving the devotional emotion central to the track.
Speaking about the creative journey behind 'Thaari Jogan,' Mannan Shaah reflected on the unexpectedly swift pace at which the song came together:"'Thaari Jogan' is probably the quickest song I've ever made. In just barely 24 hours the whole song was ready. I composed the track in the morning and Sahil Sultanpuri wrote the lyrics at night. By the next morning, the music production was complete. It felt like pure coincidence-or perhaps God's plan-that Shaoni met me for the first time on the very day I created the song, and by the following evening I recorded her voice. Everything fell into place with remarkable speed."
Highlighting the musical character of the track, Shaah emphasised the uniqueness of blending multiple emotional and stylistic elements:
"'Thaari Jogan' has this rare quality of bringing together Rajasthani roots, folk rhythm, dance energy, and devotion within a single composition. That combination makes it extremely special to me. My association with lyricist Sahil Sultanpuri adds another layer of meaning, especially since he wrote 'Akhiyan Milavanga,' a Punjabi folk-based track I composed for Commando 3, sung by Arijit Singh, which received tremendous love from listeners."
He also acknowledged the visual storytelling and performance elements that contributed to the song's popularity:"I would also like to mention the remarkable choreography by Ganesh Acharya, whom we fondly call 'MasterJi,' and the graceful performance by lead actress Aditi Bhatia, who brought tremendous energy and expression to the screen."
Known for his raag-based melodic sensibilities, Mannan Shaah has consistently crafted compositions that balance musical depth with mainstream accessibility. With 'Thaari Jogan,' he continues to explore folk-driven soundscapes that resonate across cultural traditions while appealing to today's digitally connected audiences.
Discussing his approach to maintaining authenticity, Shaah emphasised the importance of preserving the original character of the composition:"With 'Thaari Jogan,' we deliberately kept the sound extremely traditional. The melody carries strong folk roots along with devotional emotion, and even the instrumentation stays true to its origins. I wanted the music to remain deeply connected to the soil it represents. That authenticity is perhaps why audiences across states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh have connected so strongly with the song."
Reflecting on the song's expanding reach, he noted how culturally rooted compositions continue to resonate beyond geographical boundaries:"Songs grounded in cultural traditions often travel far beyond geographical boundaries. Many listeners living abroad have shared messages about dancing to the song repeatedly because it reminds them of home. I've received videos from viewers across different countries, and even cinema audiences recorded moments from the song and shared them on social media, where those clips gained significant traction."
Beyond the song's success, The Kerala Story 2 also marks a milestone in Shaah's artistic journey as he steps into a new creative role.
"This film marks my debut as a Background Score Composer, and we designed musical themes across nearly 20 different raags. Continuous exploration through listening and experimentation remains essential for any composer working across varied genres."
With its rising digital presence, strong audience engagement, and increasing popularity among dance communities, 'Thaari Jogan' stands as a reminder that original compositions rooted in tradition continue to thrive even in an era dominated by recreated music.
Following the success of The Kerala Story 2, currently running in theatres, the film-directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh-serves as a sequel to the 2023 release, exploring themes of exploitation with a cast featuring Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha.
