The famous daredevil couple Angela Nikolau and Ivan 'Vanya' Beerkus, who featured in the 2024 Netflix documentary 'Skywalkers: A Love Story', are all over the news once again for their thrilling proposal stunt.

On Wednesday (July 1), Angela and Beerkus took the internet by storm by climbing to the top of the 1,454-foot skyscraper, Empire State Building. Yes, you read that right.

Dressed in black sleeveless outfits, along with face covers, the Russian couple illegally scaled the New York tower and unfurled a black flag that read, "When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace." Soon after this, they were on a lower platform of the Empire State Building when Ivan went on one knee and popped the question to the love of his life.

Taking to Instagram, the now-engaged couple also shared photos of the viral proposal moment.

What began as a thrilling stunt to create the most romantic lifelong memory ended up being the reason for their arrest. As soon as they got down, the NYPD arrested the couple. Following the incident, the Empire Building spokesperson said, "The unauthorised incident at the building has been resolved with the constructive and helpful coordination of the New York Police Department. There was at no time danger to tenants, visitors, and Empire State Building Observation Deck guests."

The Empire State Building proposal couple, Angela Nikolau and Ivan Vanya Beerkus, originally hail from Russia. The skyscraper couple is known for scaling iconic sky-high buildings.

Born into a family of circus artists, Nikolau became a sensation after sharing photos of herself from the rooftops of a Moscow skyscraper. Her fiancé, Ivan, has also created several records for himself, including climbing the Eiffel Tower, Shanghai's Shanghai Tower, and Shun Hing Square in Shenzhen, to name a few.

Together, Ivan and Angela have climbed Goldin Finance 117, aka the China 117 tower, in the Xiqing district in Tianjin, China. The building is known as one of the world's tallest unfinished skyscrapers.
