From Gwalior’s Chambal To Bollywood’s Biggest Anthems: Meet Bros’ Harmeet Singh On God, Gratitude And Purpose
Long before "Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan" became a viral sensation or the name Meet Bros (famous musical duo) meant anything, Harmeet Singh was a Sikh teenager from Gwalior navigating a world far removed from melody and spotlights. Speaking on the ThinkRight with Rajan Navani and BK Shivani, the chart-topping composer opens up about a dark childhood, music that arrived like a divine blessing, and why he believes his greatest journey is only just beginning.

For a man whose music has powered millions of celebrations, Harmeet Singh's own origin story is anything but celebratory. Growing up far from Mumbai's film corridors, his father ran a liquor business in Chambal where gang wars were a way of life and dacoit-era violence was only just beginning to recede. "Bahut dark childhood se main nikla," he says, adding that it was a world where music, by any conventional measure, had no place.
And yet, music found him anyway. Reflecting on one of the darkest phases of his life, Harmeet says, "I was literally struggling, depressed, angry tha, duniya ko bahut hi zyada hate karta tha. And suddenly 2013 mein mere upar ek aisi blessing hui... I don't believe, I know."
The discussion offers a rare and introspective glimpse into the spiritual journey that transformed Harmeet's outlook. Speaking about where he sees himself today, he says, "Meri journey abhi bhi shuru hui hai... ek spiritual journey pe."
In a moving reflection on his future purpose, Harmeet reveals that the next chapter of his life is dedicated to younger generations. "Mera jo second part hai zindagi ka woh Gen Zs aur aane wali generations ke liye dedicate karna chahta hoon," he says, adding that he hopes to connect with young audiences through honest conversations rooted in truth and lived experience.
The conversation also dives into the extraordinary creative partnership he shares with his brother Manmeet. Speaking about their bond, he says, "My life has always been about partnership. Manmeet aur main saath mein hain do brother. Hum gaate bhi saath hain aur compose bhi saath mein karte hain." Recalling how Meet Bros was born from a spontaneous childhood moment that turned into their first song, Harmeet credits something greater for the journey that followed. "Main poora credit ek energy ko dena chahta hoon. God ko dena chahta hoon."
One of the most compelling discussions centres around comparison, talent and the true meaning of success. Harmeet reflects on a lesson that deeply resonated with him during the conversation: "Never compare with anybody."
The conversation explores how success is not merely a product of skill, but of inner alignment, intention and purpose. Through reflections on music, spirituality and self-discovery, Harmeet offers a thoughtful message for creators and young audiences navigating their own journeys.
Blending vulnerability with wisdom, Harmeet's story is a powerful reminder that true success lies not just in what one creates, but in who one becomes.
