According to reports, the incident took place on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near the Kashi Toll Plaza. Police stopped the Scorpio, noticed the suspicious “ex-MP” sticker, and then took Akash Sansanwal into custody. The vehicle was seized, and officers later shifted Sansanwal to a nearby police station for further questioning.

As per Hindustan, the action was part of a larger check at Kashi Toll on Sunday. Officials said Akash Sansanwal was held along with four other individuals. Two Scorpios and two Thars reached the barrier, and when some drivers allegedly tried to speed away and damage the gate, police intervened and detained them.

Khabargaon reported that after Sansanwal was taken away from the toll plaza, Anjali Arora contacted several political leaders in Delhi. The calls were reportedly made to seek help regarding his release. Police kept the Scorpio in their custody, and officials stated that Sansanwal would be presented before court on Monday, January 26.

Officers including Soumya Asthana, CO of Brahmapuri, and SP City Ayush Vikram Singh were present during the checks, reports said. Their team monitored vehicles passing through the toll. When the two Scorpios and two Thars arrived and the drivers allegedly tried to flee, personnel on duty managed to stop them and arrest the group.
