Rockstar DSP's Framed Michael Jackson Poster Is The Origin Story Nobody Knew They Needed

There is a framed Michael Jackson poster hanging in Rockstar DSP's studio in Chennai and it is one of his most prized possessions. The story behind it is as telling as the man himself. Long before DSP became one of Indian cinema's most electrifying composers, he was a schoolboy crossing Vadapalani by bus and cycle, stopping at street stalls along the way. That is where he first found it. An original poster of Michael Jackson's 'BAD' album, which he bought with the kind of conviction only a true believer has. He held onto it for decades, and when he finally built his own studio, putting it up, properly framed, was never a question.

Recalling the moment, Rockstar DSP revealed, "There's nobody who's not in love with this poster because this was a poster that I bought as a kid and it's an original one as well. For going to school, we would cross Vadapalani, used to go by bus and then by cycle. I grew up like that. So they used to sell posters on the street and it was one of those posters I bought that time. I had it all these years and when I built my studio I made it a point to frame it and keep it over there."
