Tateeree Phir Se: After Backlash, Badshah Set To Unveil New Version, Edits Out Controversial Lyrics

Overview of Badshah's Tateeree controversy, removal of content from platforms, and plans for Tateeree Phir Se to address objections from authorities and audiences while balancing artistic freedom and cultural responsibility.

Rapper-singer Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, known as Badshah, has removed the Haryanvi hip-hop track Tateeree from all platforms after strong criticism over allegedly explicit lyrics and visuals. Badshah said a fresh version, without the disputed content, will be released soon, following objections from government bodies and social groups.

On 10 April, Badshah used Instagram to confirm that the original Tateeree video and audio links had been taken down. The artist also revealed plans for a reworked track titled Tateeree Phir Se, promising that the updated release would address concerns raised by officials, activists and many listeners.

Badshah Tateeree controversy and song revision

Tateeree first came out on 1 March 2026 as a Haryanvi hip-hop single featuring Badshah and vocalist Simran Jaglan. Badshah wrote the lyrics, while Hiten composed and produced the music. The video, directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, mixed regional settings with contemporary rap imagery.

Soon after release, sections of the audience and activists flagged parts of the song and video as vulgar. Complaints reached the Haryana government, the women’s commission and social workers, who argued that several shots and lines did not respect local cultural values and were unfit for wide circulation.

Badshah Tateeree statement and Instagram note

Responding to the criticism, Badshah shared a detailed Hindi note on Instagram, addressing it to people in Haryana and worldwide. The message explained that the team had reviewed objections and then edited out sections called offensive. It stressed balancing artistic freedom with cultural and social responsibility.

The note opened with, "To the people of Haryana and to everyone around the world, over the past few weeks, we have listened to concerns raised by government officials, the women's commission, social workers and others regarding our song Tateeree. Based on that, we have made necessary changes and removed any part that was considered objectionable. I respect this feedback and the sentiment behind it… Along with being an artist, our responsibility towards our society and culture is equally important."

Badshah also spoke about drawing inspiration from Haryana and wanting that link to remain visible in music. The rapper described the new version Tateeree Phir Se as part of that effort, and thanked listeners for keeping the track in discussion despite the backlash and removals.

Badshah continued, "Tateeree Phir Se is a step forward in that direction. Your support, voice and faith has kept this song alive. I hope the new version also takes that spirit forward. Thank you to everyone who was part of this conversation, it helps grow as artists. Tateeree Phir Se will be released on April 14. Please listen, share and take it forward."

Badshah Tateeree timeline, NCW apology and action

A few days before announcing Tateeree Phir Se, Badshah apologised to the National Commission for Women over Tateeree. Badshah assured the NCW that there was no intent to insult women, and promised to support women’s empowerment, including funding education for 50 girls from economically weaker backgrounds.
