With Nearly Half His Spotify Listeners Made Up Of Gen Z, Anuv Jain Comes Home to His Fans

Anuv Jain reaches more than 18 million monthly listeners on Spotify. While India remains his largest listener market, his music has built a strong following across the world, and some of his top international listener markets include the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Jo Tum Mere Ho is his most streamed song on Spotify and spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Spotify India's Weekly Top Songs chart. Husn became the second most streamed song in Spotify Wrapped India 2024 and has spent over 130 weeks on Spotify India's Weekly Top Songs chart. The numbers are remarkable, but behind every stream is a fan who found a piece of themselves in the music.

On a June evening in New Delhi, Spotify brought some of those fans, who are also Premium subscribers, into the same room as their favourite Indian Pop artist at 'Coming Home to Anuv Jain'.

In an intimate setting, stories were shared, songs were sung, and fans got a rare glimpse into the person behind the music. Anuv met the people who have carried his songs through the moments of their own lives. The experience was curated exclusively for Spotify's Premium members, those who have a subscription to the platform's Premium plan. Access to the event however, wasn't simply a matter of having a subscription. Premium members who dedicatedly listen to Anuv's music were invited to take part in an in-app quiz that tested how well they knew his songs and the artist's most engaged listeners earned an invitation to the evening. Nearly half of Anuv's listeners on Spotify are GenZ (between the ages of 18 and 24), while Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata are his top five listener hubs. In fact, Arz Kiya Hai has remained on the Spotify Top Songs India chart since its release last year and is currently trending at No. 2, while also featuring in the Top 10 City Charts across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

Sitting down with fans for an intimate conversation, Anuv shared a few lesser known stories behind his music and creative process:
● He revealed that his love for writing began long before music, shaped by a childhood spent painting, sketching, building things and writing poetry.

● Fans got an insight into his songwriting process, with Anuv sharing that he rarely repeats verses or choruses, constantly pushing himself to make every line move the story forward.

● He spoke about his fascination with space and the universe, revealing that late night documentaries inspired his track Antariksh and continue to influence his writing.

● Reflecting on some of his most personal songs, Anuv shared that he considers Inaam one of his most underrated tracks, revealing that it marked a turning point in his songwriting as one of the first songs where he wrote about himself instead of love.

● He also spoke about Maula, sharing how the song emerged from a place of profound grief and remains one of the most emotionally personal pieces he has written.

During the event Anuv spent time one on one with fans, signing a fan's guitar and personally thanking attendees, many of whom had travelled from different parts of India, with handwritten notes.

Having first championed Anuv through its Chai & Acoustic playlist in 2019, Spotify has been part of his journey ever since. Baarishein went on to feature on Spotify India's flagship independent music playlist, Indie India, in 2020, and Anuv has remained a fixture on Spotify's charts since, with his music continuing to feature prominently, including in Spotify India's Wrapped 2025.
