I
like
the
person
more
as
much
as
I
like
the
singer
in
him.
Do
you
know
why
am
I
so
interested
in
penning
the
details
of
this
singer.
Yes!
He
turned
33
years
recently
that
is
on
30th
July.
He
was
born
in
Faridabad,
Haryana.
His
family
moved
to
Delhi
and
he
started
his
singing
from
the
age
of
four
years.
His
parents
were
singers
too
and
from
very
childhood
he
was
brought
up
in
such
a
singing
background
family.
He
sang
Muhammad
Rafi
number
in
a
concert
where
his
father
was
due
to
perform.
He
started
his
career
by
singing
Muhammad
Rafi
songs
and
he
became
popular
by
singing
his
songs.
He
could
sing
his
songs
perfectly
and
gave
full
justice
to
his
numbers.
He got his first break as a playback singer with the song "Accha Sila Diya Tune mere pyaar ka" for Bewafa Sanam. At the same time he was hosting for a television singing competition that went on to be really popular. But he shot to fame and came to real limelight with the song "Sandese Aate Hai" for J P Dutta's movie Border. He for the first time broke his image of following the footsteps of Muhammad Rafi as he created his own style of singing with the song "Yeh Dil Deewana" in Pardes.
Quite a ladies' man, and the ladies' mothers' man, too considering his cute-cute, chocolate charm (facial, that is). Tried his hand at acting, too, but quickly withdrew. Tried his hand at marriage, too, with a Calcutta girl, one of his ardent fans of his singing if we are to believe these things, but soon after sounds of marital spats reached eager-beaver ears. But they were together. Then they split momentarily. Then truce again.
He has a number of songs in his list of hit songs but some of the famous can be stated as follows
- "Aacha Sila Diya" from Bewafa Sanam
- "Sandese Aate Hain" from Border
- "Ishq Bina" from Taal
- "Yeh Dil Deewana" from Pardes
- "Saatrangi Re" from Dil Se...
- "Tanhayee" from Dil Chahta Hai...
- "Saathiya" from Saathiya (Filmfare Award)
- "Suraj Hua Maddham" from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum
- "Kal Ho Na Ho" from Kal Ho Na Ho (Filmfare Award)
- "Main Hoon Na" and "Tumse milke" from Main Hoon Na
- "Do Pal" from Veer Zaara
- "Sun Zaara" from Lucky
- "Piyu Bole" from Parineeta
- "Soona man ka angan" from Parineeta
- "Dheere Jalna" from Paheli
- "Mere Haath Mein" from Fanaa
- "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
- "Chup chup ke" from Bunty Aur Babli
- "Rabba Mere Rabba" from Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai
- "Koi Tumsa Nahin" from Krrish
We have seen him in a number of other places where we have seen him as a person. He became very popular in the Television show in SONY in Indian Idol as a judge. He proved himself to be a very simple and down to earth person and at the same time he was a very good judge. All his songs are worth mentioning, he sings form the heart and he has such wonderful ways of making the same lines sound so different and unique. He got a lot of awards for different songs and he also got the National Award for his famous song "Panchee Nadiya Pawan Ke Jhoke" in Refugee. He fabulously brings out the real eternal tone in the song and the it gets the spirit from his voice and depth of his voice.
Sonu Nigam has the unforgettable presence in the playback singing in bollywood. He is one amongst the best and we wish him all the best for his career and many happy returns of the day though he does not look like a 33 year old. And to conclude I am a great fan of him and we all love him and hope he sings more and more straight from his heart to reach our heart!!!
