Dileep Biography

Dileep is an Indian film actor, producer, and singer, entrepreneur who works in the Malayalam film industry. Before acting in films he worked as an assistant director to veteran director Kamal. He is one of the leading actors in the Malayalam Industry. The actor is famous for hit movies like Manathe Kottaram (1994), Kakkakkum Poochakkum Kalyanam(1996), Sallapam(1996)Thenkasipattanam(2000), and Rakshasaraajavu(2001). He is also known as a Popular Actor in the Malayalam industry.

Personal Life
Dileep by name of  Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan Pillai was born in a  middle-class family to Padmanabhann Pillai and Sarojam Pillai in Aluva, Kerala. After completing primary and higher secondary education at  Vidyadhiraja Vidya Bhavan Higher Secondary School and Union Christian College, Aluva, he took  Bachelor of Arts in History from Maharaja's College.

Dileep married actress Manju Warrier, in 1998. They have a daughter named Meenakshi. Later, he divorced Manju Warrier and married the actress Kavya Madhavan in 2016. The couple has a daughter, Mahalakshmi born in October 2018.


Career Life
He started his career as a mimicry artist at Kalabhavan Troupe.The actor gained popularity through his fascinating acting skills in various comedy programs. Dileep played a lead role in a Comedy program,titled Comicola aired on Asianet. Before acting in films he worked as an assistant director to veteran director Kamal. From there, he joined with actor Jayaram and entered into film industry. He acted in different roles in the films like Manathe Kottaram (1994),  Sainyam (1993), Sibi Malayil's Sindoora Rekha (1995), Urvashi's Pidakozhi Koovunna Nootand (1994), Kamal's Ulladakkam (1993) and Sudhinam (1994).The movies established his status as a prominent actor during the late-1990s.

By the mid of 2000, the actor was popular with his slapstick comedy roles in films like Punjabi House, Thenkasipattanam, Ee Parakkum Thalika, Meesa Madhavan and many others.

He is a super-learner with highly-talented skills,his powerful comic dialogue delivery attracts a large audience.He chooses a unique mannerism for the characters presented on screen

Apart from comedy genre films, the actor also extended his range by acting in off-beat movies like Chandupottu,Kadhavaseshan,Pinneyum. He was praised for his stunning performance in these films. As a leading superstar 'Dileep' has acted in around 140 films since 1994. The actor produced 12 films and emerged as a producer during the last 28 years.

Dileep has received many awards and honours for his outstanding performances in the field of cinema. He won the Kerala State Film Awards for outstanding actor for the film 'Vellari Pravintea Changhathi' in 2011.
