Jagapati Babu Biography

Jagapathi Babu is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Telugu and Tamil films. Since he began acting in 1974, he has received numerous honours, including the Filmfare, Nandi, SIIMA, and IIFA Utsavam awards. He has also entered the world of production and is the driving force behind "Jagapathi Arts."

He primarily appears in family and comedy films. He also tries his hand at action films from time to time. He has firmly established his credentials as an actor by portraying a variety of roles and has worked with eminent directors like Ramgopal Varma, Krishna Vamsi, Guna Sekhar, Suresh Krishna, and Mani Ratnam.

Personal Life

In Machilipatnam, on February 12, 1962, Jagapathi Babu was born to famous producer-director V. B. Rajendra Prasad. Prior to becoming well-known in Telugu film, he was raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Two girls were born to him and Lakshmi.

Career

The Telugu film Simha Swapnam marked Babu's Telugu film debut (1989). Peddarikam, a 1992 release, marked his first commercial breakthrough. Ram Gopal Varma's 1993 film Gaayam, which is regarded as his breakthrough, was a critical and commercial success.

Runway hits like Subhakankshalu and Pelli Pandiri were released in 1997. He received the Nandi Best Actor Award in 2000 for his work in the suspenseful movie Manoharam. He had roles in the 2006 films Samanyudu and Pellaina Kothalo.

His debut Tamil film was titled Madrasi, and in 2012, he played the villain in Thaandavam. He was then named best actor for his performance in the five-time Nandi Award-winning film Jai Bolo Telangana. He made his acting debut in 2012 as a cop in the Kannada film Bachchan. In Pulimurugan, he co-starred with Mohanlal and made his Malayalam debut.
