Sherin Shringar, known by her stage name
Sherin or
Shirin, is a model turned actress who appears in Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil films. At the young age of 16, she launched her Kannada language breakthrough in 2002 with Darshan in
Dhruva. She then started her career in the Kollywood industry through
Thulluvadho Ilamai. She received the 2003 Most Popular Actress
Cinema Express Award.
Personal LifeSherin was born on May 5, 1985, to Ali Shringar and Yashoda Shringar in Bangalore, Karnataka. She completed her education at Kaveri School and afterwards transferred to Baldwin Women's Methodist College to pursue her studies. However, she stopped studying and began concentrating on a modelling career.
CareerIn her teenage years, Sherin Shringar began modelling and had the opportunity to appear in her first movie. She appeared in
Police Dog in an uncredited role before making her lead Kannada language debut in 2002 with Darshan in Dhruva. Later on, due to her critically acclaimed performance, she caught the attention of other industries as well.
She was approached by Selvaraghavan to play the lead role in his brother Dhanush's Tamil-language movie. Both Dhanush and Sherin made their Kollywood debuts with Thulluvadho Ilamai, which helped them get attention and accolades. Through
Juniors in 2003 and
Moonnamathoral in 2006, she also made her language debuts in Malayalam and Telugu.
Sherin appeared in many films and won the audience's praise for Whistle, Danger, and Bheemaa, among many other films. She starred as Sindhu in the Kannada film
AK 56 in 2012, and after that she took a break from the movie business for a while. She played Preethi in the 2015 film
Nanbenda, who was Sandhanam's lover.
Bigg BossShe is one of the 14 contestants competing in Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3. She was the public's favourite because of her keen competitiveness. She competed in the season finale alongside Sandy, Mugheen Rao, and her friend Dharshan, and finished as the
third runner-up in that season.
Cook With ComaliShe participated in a number of Vijay TV competitions and programmes after Bigg Boss. She unexpectedly made an appearance in the fourth season of the widely recognised television programme, CWC.
