Daniel Radcliffe's Birthday Today! What Is The 'Harry Potter' Star Up To Now?

The name 'Daniel Radcliffe' has pretty much become synonymous with the entire Harry Potter series. Ever since the actor took on the titular role at just 11 years old, his face has always been associated with that of 'The Boy Who Lived'. In fact, both the actor and the character also share the same birth month. Harry Potter's birthday is on July 31st, while Daniel Radcliffe's birthday lies on July 23rd, which is today!
While his most notable role is from the Harry Potter franchise, here are some other pieces of media that he's worked on, and an update on where he is now.
Miles Lee Harris In The Action Comedy Film 'Guns Akimbo'
A far cry from his role in the Harry Potter franchise, Daniel Radcliffe truly showed his range of acting skills by taking on the lead role in the R-Rated Action Comedy 'Guns Akimbo' in 2020.
In the movie, he portrayed the protagonist as an everyman caught in a bad situation as he's forced to participate in a deathmatch that's being streamed live to audiences online. In the deathmatch, he's had guns bolted onto his arms, and is forced to go up against one of the deadliest killers of the stream. The rest of the movie follows his journey to stop the deathmatch and take out the criminal boss which caused him to get in this situation in the first place.
Weird Al In The Parody Biopic 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story'
This film also shows that the actor, now in his 30s, certainly has a gift for playing quirky roles in experimental movies. Released in 2022, 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' on the surface seems like a biographical film of the musical parody artist 'Weird Al'. Similar to other biopics like 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Rocketman'. Upon watching the film, however, audiences realized that his movie was a parody as well. A parody of musical artists' biographies.
In the movie, Daniel Radcliffe plays the role of 'Weird Al', and shows a wacky, fictitious depiction of the artist's childhood, early career, and a shootout with Pablo Escobar.
Charley Kringas In The Broadway Musical 'Merrily We Roll Along'
In 2022, Daniel Radcliffe returned to doing roles in theatre and musicals. In 2024, the latest Musical where he's been acting is the revival of the 1981 American Musical 'Merrily We Roll Along'. In it, he takes on the role of Charley Kringas, the main character Frank Shepard's former best friend.
The musical actually won several awards at the 77th Tony Awards, with Daniel Radcliffe winning the award for 'Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical'.
The actor seems to be doing great and has found his stride both in the film as well as the theatre industry.
