'Joker: Folie À Deux' Official Trailer, Release Date, Other Details

The official Warner Bros. Pictures' YouTube account just recently posted a trailer for their upcoming movie 'Joker: Folie À Deux'.

This movie will act as the sequel to the 2019 film 'Joker', pushing the story forward in directions both expected and brand new. Still, the original film won several Academy Awards and remains the highest grossing R-rated film of all time to this day, sitting at a whopping $1 billion dollars worldwide. The sequel will have some big shoes to fill.

What Kind Of Story Will 'Joker: Folie À Deux' Cover

The events of the 2019 'Joker' film were quite vague, as it was hard to tell which events were real, and which events were taking place inside the protagonist, Arthur Fleck's imagination.

The sequel, however, seems to confirm that Fleck did end up committing crimes and inciting riots in Gotham City, for which he is arrested and set for trial. Fleck will not be the only focus of the story though.

Joining him is an unnamed female lead who seems to be as deranged as the protagonist as well, and seems to want to follow him around everywhere. Whether it's an act of love, obsession, or something else remains to be seen.

Those familiar with the Joker in the classic DC universe will immediately think of the unnamed girl being Harley Quinn, but if the previous movie has taught fans anything, it's that nothing may be as it seems.

Oh, and the movie is also a musical. A joker musical.

Who All Have Worked On 'Joker: Folie À Deux'

Joaquin Phoenix will once again take on the role of the deranged and troubled protagonist, Arthur Fleck, with Lady Gaga taking on the role of the unnamed obsessive woman. Other notable actors who will be making an appearance in the film include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Zazie Beetz.

Todd Phillips returns from directing the original 2019 film to also direct the sequel, whose screenplay was written by Scott Silver and Phillips. Lady Gaga will also be acting as the music consultant for the upcoming musical.

When Can We Watch 'Joker: Folie À Deux'

While the film will be releasing nationwide in America from October 4th onwards, the trailer description reads that the film will be internationally available to watch from October 2nd. Either way, fans may want to take some time out of their first week of October if they want to catch this potential gem of a movie on the first day of release.
