Kevin Hart's Comedy Career Started From A Male Strip Club

Kevin Hart At Male Strip Club

With Kevin Hart's tour 'Acting My Age' just around the corner as well as the upcoming popular video game based movie 'Borderlands (2024)' just around the corner, it seems that the comedian-actor seems to be experiencing great success in his career. Kevin Hart has always been a funny guy, and he's always put in the work when it comes to making entertaining shows.

But believe it or not, even Kevin Hart had to start from somewhere. Now, unlike most comedians who may have started their work in small clubs and other venues, Kevin Hart saw his comedy career start at the unlikeliest of places, that place being a male strip called 'Sweet Cheeks'.

He didn't act as a stripper, to clarify, but rather acted as a buffer for the other male strippers to go backstage and change. He would come in and tell some jokes to ease the tension during the downtime.

This is a story that Kevin Hart has told a few times over the course of his career and the many interviews he's done, but he reportedly once got hit with a half-eaten chicken wing during his first comedy routine at the 'Sweet Cheeks' male strip club due to the audience not liking his stand-up. "A little sauce was on it too," Kevin Hart told Sean Evans during a Hot Ones interview, "Some of that sauce got in my eye. He hit me with a buffalo wing. My joke frustrated him to the point where he felt the need to stand up and throw food at me."

He elaborated later on that after the wing was thrown at him, he tried to call out the person who threw it, but was quickly booed off-stage. The comedian was only 19 at the time and genuinely considered quitting comedy and performance in general. He did eventually manage to convince himself to go back to 'Sweet Cheeks' and continue his comedy special, but also try and gel better with the audience.

After the incident, and the small success he found afterwards, Kevin Hart realised that if he was able to perform comedy for such a tough and vulgar crowd, he could probably perform anywhere. This event, while absurd in many ways, may have given the comedian-actor the confidence he needed to be where he is today.
