Paris 2024 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony Saw Everyone Sing, From Artists To Even Athletes

Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was quite the event as it saw many superstars and athletes end the event that's been on the global radar for weeks. President of France, Emmanuel Macron shared a post on his X account, formerly Twitter, showing off the amazing fireworks that were set off for the closing ceremony, but there's so much more to the ending than just the pretty visuals we see in the post.

The closing ceremony was initially kicked off with the French singer and songwriter Zaho de Sagazan and the choir of the Academie Haendel-Hendrix , who sang the French music legend, Edith Piaf's 'Sous le Ciel de Paris'. The song was performed where the Olympic Cauldron is located, and from there a flame was carried by French athlete, Leon Marchand. The athlete in this year's Olympic Games had won four golds and one silver for his home country, and also earned the nickname 'The Dolphin'.

He was not the only athlete at the closing celebration, as all athletes came to the centre stage during the event, after which it was announced that there would be a karaoke event that would involve all athletes. Some of the songs that they all sang included "Emmenez-moi" by Charles Aznavour, "Les Champs-Elysées" by Joe Dassin, "Freed From Desire", and "We Are the Champions" by Queen.

Other European artists also performed for the huge crowd during the closing ceremony. Some of the artists included the French indie band 'Pheonix', French DJ Kavinsky, Belgian singer Angele, French rock band Air, and Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend.

Eventually the Olympic flag was handed off to Karen Bass, mayor of Los Angeles who will be hosting the Summer Olympic Games in 2028. In order to celebrate Los Angeles being picked as the next stage of the Olympic games, many artists from that region also showed up to perform. The list includes H.E.R, Tom Cruise, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Billie Eilish, and even Snoop Dogg.

The event finally ended with French singer Yseult singing 'My Way', but with all the superstar performances that happened during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it seems that Los Angeles has some big shoes to fill in 2028.
