'Squid Game' Season 2 Release Date Announced, Cast And Crew, Other Details

Netflix just recently confirmed that season 2 of the once popular series 'Squid Game' is coming to the platform later this year. Alongside this news, the OTT platform also released a bunch of information regarding who all may return from season 1, who all are new to the cast, and what the future plans are for the series.

For fans of the series or those interested, here are some of the details you should know.

How Season 1 Of 'Squid Game' Ended And Where Season 2 Kicks Off

Season 1 of 'Squid Game' was a thrilling journey from start to finish. For those who don't know, the series revolved around a culling game where participants were required to play simple games, where failure meant death. The winner of such a game would win a huge cash prize and have enough money to sustain a wealthy lifestyle for many decades.

The protagonist of this series was Seong Gi-hun, a man that was down on his luck and would do anything to get some money and support those around him. At the end of Season 1, he was one of the few survivors of the entire event and won the cash prize that would set him up for life. But after realizing the true sadistic nature of the game, he decided that rather than spending the money on himself, he'd rather focus his efforts on ending the game in its entirety.

This is where Season 2 kicks off, as Seong Gi-hun must find out who all are behind the game and put a stop to it all. But in order to do that, he must once again take part in the culling game.

Cast And Crew Behind 'Squid Game' Season 2

The protagonist of the series will once again be played by Lee Jung-jae, who will be joined by returning cast members like Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun.

There will be plenty of new faces as well, such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, and Roh Jae-won.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directed the first season, will once again be in charge of directing and producing the second season of 'Squid Game' with the help of Firstman Studio.

'Squid Game' season 2 will be available on Netflix from December 26th, 2024.

Season 3 has also been confirmed to be in the works and is set to be the final season of the show, which will air sometime in 2025. Until then, fans can re-watch season 1 on Netflix to get caught up on all the events that will lead up to season 2 of Squid Game.
