Stranger Things Season 5: Is Max Gone? Characters That May Not Return In The Next Season

'Stranger Things' is currently in the middle of producing its fifth season and there are already so many theories on what audiences can expect. People are, of course, theorising on who all may make a return to the new season, and what all new characters may be added. The Duffer brothers, who are the creators of Stranger Things, have commented in interviews that they plan to answer all possible questions as they want to make sure audiences feel satisfied after watching Season 5.

This, however, doesn't confirm that every character will make it to season 5 of 'Stranger Things', and one character's fate is probably more uncertain than most.

One has to wonder if Maxine 'Max' Mayfield will make a recovery and be conscious during season 5.

The character was introduced in season 2 alongside her antagonistic step-brother Billy Hargrove, and has since become both a mainstay in the band of our young protagonists, as well as a fan-favourite. This is why her state in season 4 was heart-breaking to watch for many.

For those who need a recap, after an encounter with Vecna, Max technically died for a whole minute before being revived by Eleven. She, however, remained in a comatose state with all her bones broken and is currently hospitalised with her fate uncertain. The Duffer brothers actually planned to kill her character off entirely, but decided to keep her fate more ambiguous.

They also confirmed in a recent podcast episode of 'Happy Sad Confused' that other characters like Dr. Brenner, played by Matthew Modine, and Eddie, played by Joseph Quinn, are definitely dead and won't be making a comeback in season 5.

So, will Max make a recovery? Unfortunately nothing has confirmed it yet but all signs say that she may, at the very least, have some presence in season 5, as her actor Sadie Sink can be seen walking through the dressing room of the set of 'Stranger Things: Season 5'. We may still be able to see Max get her revenge against Vecna.
