'The Penguin' DC Spin-Off Series Trailer, Release Date, Other Details

The HBO Max YouTube channel just recently posted a trailer for an upcoming series called 'The Penguin'.

The series will revolve around the titular character, the Penguin, from the DC comics series and the recent movies. Here are a few details that fans and those interested should know about the crime drama series.

How 'The Penguin' Will Expand Upon Matt Reeves' DC Universe

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Lauren LeFranc shed light on what 'The Penguin' will be about. The drama series will act as a prequel to the 2022 Matt Reeves film 'The Batman' which starred Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader. In the movie, we saw a confrontation between Batman and the new crime boss of Gotham City, Oswald Cobblepot or 'The Penguin' who was played by Colin Farrell.

The series will act as a prequel to the story of Oswald Cobblepot and how he became the new crime boss over time, as well as the dynamics between the many different criminal kingpins in the underbelly of Gotham City.

The series will also introduce another major character in the previous crime boss, Carmine Falcone's daughter named Sofia Falcone. Sofia in this series will have just finished her time in Arkham Asylum as a rehabilitated woman, but her and Oswald will definitely stir up some trouble given the opportunity.

Cast And Crew Behind 'The Penguin'

The titular character, Oswald Cobblepot, will be played by Colin Farrell once more. You may recognize the actor from his roles in 'Total Recall', 'Miami Vice', and 'Minority Report'.

The other central character to the story, Sofia Falcone, will be played by Cristin Milioti, who has had notable roles in the past in 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'.

Other members of the cast include Rhenzy Feliz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O'Connell, Clancy Brown, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, and Carmen Ejogo.

Lauren LeFranc acts as the showrunner of the series, with producers that include Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro.

When And Where To Watch 'The Penguin'

The eight episode series will be available to watch on HBO Max from September 19th, 2024 onwards.
