Touken Ranbu Kai Prequel Film Shokudaikiri Mitsutada

The TOHO Animation YouTube channel just recently uploaded another trailer video showcasing another new character being added to the cast of their upcoming anime film titled, 'Touken Ranbu Kai: Douden Chikashi Haberau Monora'. The character that featured in this particular video is a black-haired eyepatch wearing swordsman with an ever present smile on his face who's called Shokudaikiri Mitsutada. The voice actor for his character will be Takuya Sato.

This character trailer is part of a daily release schedule for six days, where each day a new character for the upcoming film is revealed by TOHO Animation. This schedule started on August 5th and two other characters have already been revealed. Heshikiri Hasebe, who will be voice acted by Shingaki Tarusuke, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga, who will be voice acted by Soma Saito.

This trend has been going for three days out of the announced six. It seems that we'll get to see another three character trailers in the next three days at the very least.

"Touken Ranbu Kai: Douden Chikashi Haberau Monora" is a prequel film to the anime series "Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji". The series first became available on Crunchyroll from April onwards, and all its 8 episodes are currently available to watch on the streaming site.

A summary of the storyline of this anime series by Crunchyroll reads, "In 2205 A.D., evil forces attack the past, threatening to alter the course of history. The judge calls on four swordsmen, with blades blessed by a Shinto priest, to protect the past and save the future. Loyal to their former master, the demon king Oda Nobunaga, they travel back to the Honnoji Temple where he was murdered. Can they stop evil in its tracks and preserve the past? Only time will tell."

The movie itself will be released in Japan on August 16th and may also be available worldwide sometime after that. The film will be directed by Kazuya Ichikawa, with Kenichi Suemitsu having written the script, Mari Takada providing character designs, and Ryunosuke Kasai having created the soundtrack.
