'True Beauty' Webtoon Gets Anime Adaptation, Trailer, Releases TOMORROW

The official Crunchyroll YouTube channel just recently posted a trailer for an upcoming anime series called 'True Beauty' that will be releasing on the platform tomorrow, August 8th.

The series is based on the South Korean webtoon by the same name and has already had a live action series which aired on T.V.s in late 2020 till early 2021. The current anime will be produced by Studio N and Cocktail Media.

For those that are interested in the series, or are fans of the original webtoon, here are some of the details you should know about the upcoming anime.

Plot Details Of The Webtoon Based Anime 'True Beauty'

The anime will follow the female protagonist, Jugyeong, who was severely bullied in her old school for her looks. She decides to transfer to a different high school as the bullying gets worse, and over the course of the winter break, she also practices how to apply make-up on herself.

Fast forward a couple months to where she enters her new high school, Saebom High School, and it is revealed that she has completely transformed in terms of her face and other features. This change to her looks is also boosted by her confidence and natural charisma coming out as she manages to become the talk of the school and beauty goddess.

The new school she enters is also known for producing many idols, actors and entertainers. Many believe that Jugyeong's popularity and looks will land her many opportunities in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately for her though, not only does she have to battle against fierce competition, she also has to hide her past which she feels very embarrassed about.

Things become even more complicated when her face without make-up is revealed to a new transfer student, Suho Lee. Now she must not only fight it out against the top madonnas of the school, but also do her best to keep Suho Lee's mouth shut regarding her true appearance.
