Release date 07 Mar 2014

Critics Review

  • 300 Rise of an Empire movie is based on Frank Miller's latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster "300," this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield-on the sea-as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) tells her men about the Battle of Marathon, in which King Darius I (Yigal Naor) of Persia was killed by General Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) of Athens. Darius' son, Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), witnesses his father's death, and is advised to not continue the war, since "only the gods could defeat the Greeks".
