London
(UNI):
Devastated
after
being
dropped
from
the
England
team
following
the
World
Cup
disaster,
David
Beckham
found
an
unlikely
counseller
in
Tom
Cruise
and
the
Real
Madrid
player
says
the
Hollywood
star's
pep
talk
helped
him
get
over
the
disappointment.
Beckham,
who
was
dropped
after
England's
World
Cup
campaign
ended
in
a
penalty
shoot-out
debacle
in
the
quarter-finals
against
Portugal,
said
the
Mission
Impossible
star's
positive
attitude
bowled
him
over.
''When
I
got
to
America,
I
phoned
Tom.
He's
a
great
guy
to
be
able
to
speak
to
because
he
is
a
very
positive-minded
person.
It
is
good
to
have
people
like
him
around
you
at
that
point,''
Beckham
told
the
'Daily
Mirror'.
''Tom
talked
about
everything
I
had
done
in
the
World
Cup,
about
the
goal
I
scored
and
the
goals
I
set
up.
He
said
I
was
a
great
player'
that
I
played
for
Real
Madrid.
It
does
you
good
just
to
hear
somebody
saying
that
sometimes,''
he
added.
In
fact,
the
star
mid-fielder,
who
has
admitted
that
he
may
never
play
for
England
again,
now
sees
his
future
in
America
and
wants
to
shift
there
after
he
retires
from
the
game.
''America
does
interest
me,
of
course.
I
want
to
play
at
the
highest
level
for
as
long
as
I
can
but
there
probably
will
come
a
point
where
I
do
think
about
America,''
he
said.
''I
like
America
as
a
country
and
to
live
there
for
a
few
years
