Written,
produced
and
directed
by
Michael
Mann,
Miami
Vice
is
as
an
adaptation
of
the
1980
TV
series
of
the
same
name.
The
TV
show
Miami
Vice
was
known
for
its
stylishness.
The
movie,
Miami
Vice
is
a
crime
film
in
which
Mann
has
given
a
strong
emphasis
on
character,
performance
and
on
visual
style.
After
a
tragic
security
breach
in
the
Joint
Inter-Agency
Task
Force
(JIATF),
the
FBI
asks
help
from
the
Miami
authorities,
who
are
not
part
of
the
compromised
group.
The
assignment
is
given
to
the
vice
squad
detectives
James
"Sonny" Crockett
(Colin
Farrell)
and
Ricardo
"Rico"
Tubbs
(Jamie
Foxx).
The
debonair
and
smart
Tubbs
lives
with
Bronx-born
intel
analyst
(Naomie
Harris,
the
British
actress).
James
"Sonny
Crockett
is
a
charming
and
flirtatious
guy.
As
the
team
works
together
they
realize
that
a
high
level
leak
led
to
the
murder
of
the
undercover
federal
agents
and
an
informant
friend's
family.
As
they
start
investigating
the
case
they
reach
the
doorsteps
of
the
ferocious
killers
from
the
Aryan
Brotherhood
and
a
sophisticated
network
of
globalized
traffickers
protected
by
world-class
security.
As
they
work
undercover,
transporting
drug
loads
into
South
Florida
to
identify
the
group
behind
the
murders,
Sonny
Crockett
falls
in
love
with
the
Chinese-Cuban
wife
of
an
arms
and
drug
trafficker
Isabella
(Gong
Li,
Chinese
actress).
The
intensity
of
this
case
pushes
Crockett
and
Tubbs
out
onto
the
edge
where
identity
and
fabrication
become
blurred,
where
cop
and
player
become
one
-
especially
for
Crockett
in
his
romance
with
Isabella
and
for
Tubbs
in
the
provocation
of
an
assault
on
those
he
loves.
Crockett
and
Isabella
get
a
bit
more
time
on
the
screen
than
the
other
characters.
They
jet
off
to
Cuba
in
a
phallic
speedboat
called
Mojo
to
dance,
drink
mojita
cocktails
and
enjoy
having
romance
with
each
other.
The
movie
slows
down
as
it
starts
focusing
on
the
romance
between
Crockett
and
Isabella.
The
ironic
feature
of
the
movie
is
that
despite
the
name
of
the
movie,
the
filming
does
not
take
place
in
Miami
nor
does
it
has
anything
to
do
with
the
vice
squad.
The
action
leaps
around
Latin
America
-
Haiti,
Cuba
and
Paraguay.
And
there's
plenty
to
look
at:
isolated
jungle
retreats
where
drug
lords
live
in
majestic
lounge
and
darkened
nightclubs
where
carefully
selected
music
electrifies
every
glance.
At
various
points,
speed
boats
glide
over
shimmering
night
waters,
and
several
scenes
take
place
in
some
very
spacious
showers.
