<i>The Golden Compass</i> Kidmans next movie

Oscar winning actress Nicole Kidman is in negotiations to star in New Line Cinema's The Golden Compass to be released in November 2007. She would be playing the role of the villainous and glamorous Mrs. Coulter.

Based on the first part of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, the movie also casts Dakota Blue Richards. Dakota Blue Richards plays the role of Lyra, a girl who travels to a parallel universe to fight the forces of evil and rescue her best friend.

The movie would be directed by Chris Weitz and is said to be New Line's biggest project after The Lord of the Rings at $150 million.

Kidman won the Academy Award for her leading role in The Moulin Rouge in 2002.
