Actress Anne Hathaway has revealed that she landed the meaty role as Jane Austen in Becoming Jane because of her dog. The 24-year-old actress revealed that she didn't sleep the night before her second audition because her pooch gobbled the hotel slipper.

"My dog decided to eat the hotel slipper, so she was up the whole night vomiting. I slept maybe an hour," People quoted her, as saying. The Princess Diaries star said that her tired and worn out look the next day appealed to the director, who offered her the role immediately.

"When I arrived at the interview, I was tired and wasn't in a very good mood. I guess Julian (Director Julian Jarrold) realized that I wasn't the bright, happy, smiley, untroubled girl from The Princess Diaries. He offered me the role after that," she said.

Hathaway added that her pup recovered from the incident, saying, "I have to thank the maker of the hotel slipper that poisoned my dog."
