Washington
(ANI):
The
first
five
Harry
Potter
flicks
have
conjured
a
whopping
4.47
billion
dollars
worldwide,
beating
the
likes
of
smash
hit
film
series
'James
Bond'
and
'Star
Wars'
movies.
The
Bond
series
that
debuted
in
1962
has
till
now
made
4.44
billion
dollars
worldwide
from
22
flicks.
The
Star
Wars
has
pulled
down
4.23
billion
dollars
from
six
flicks
since
its
first
release
in
1977.
However,
domestically
the
Potter
series
(1.41
dollars)
is
still
behind
Star
Wars
(2.18
billion
dollars).
Warner
prexy
and
chief
operating
officer
Alan
Horn
said
that
there
is
no
common
basis
of
comparison
in
between
the
three
franchises.
"It's
just
a
fun
number.
It
is
not
any
way
to
diminish
the
box
office
totals
of
'Star
Wars'
and
the
Bond
movies.
The
fifth
instalment
has
grossed
more
than
900
million
dollars
thus
far,
with
just
under
300
million
dollars
coming
from
domestic
B.O.
The
studio
projects
it
will
generate
an
additional
20
million
dollars
to
25
million
dollars
overseas," Variety
quoted
Horn,
as
saying.
