A
Los
Angeles
judge
stunned
Hollywood
on
Friday
after
sentencing
Paris
Hilton
to
jail
for
45
days.
The
heiress
fought
back
tears
as
the
sentence
was
handed
down
to
her
at
Los
Angeles
County
Superior
Court
after
she
was
found
guilty
of
violating
her
probation
on
an
alcohol-related
reckless
driving
charge.
Before
the
hearing,
Hilton,
who
was
joined
in
court
by
her
parents
Rick
and
Kathy,
apologised
to
Judge
Michael
T.
Sauer
for
driving
her
Bentley
with
a
suspended
license
in
February
this
year.
But
Sauer
was
determined
to
be
tough,
dismissing
claims
from
Hilton's
publicist,
Elliot
Mintz,
that
neither
he
nor
his
client
was
aware
her
license
had
been
suspended,
following
a
drink
driving
arrest
last
year.
The
judge
called
Mintz's
testimony
"completely
worthless," adding
that
Hilton
had
paper
work
in
her
car
stating
that
her
license
had
been
suspended.
He
then
told
the
socialite
she
would
have
to
serve
the
full
45
days
in
jail
and
she
was
not
eligible
for
work
release.
He
also
insisted
that
she
wouldn't
be
able
to
pick
where
she
served
her
time.
Hilton
will
begin
her
jail
stint
at
the
Century
Regional
Detention
Facility
in
Los
Angeles
County
on
June
5
next.
