Patrick Tatopoulos to direct 'Underworld 3'

Filmmaker Len Wiseman has reportedly chosen production designer Patrick Tatopoulos to direct a third movie in his 'Underworld' series. It is, however, unclear as yet whether actress Kate Beckinsale will return in the planned movie, reports Moviehole.

The first film 'Underworld' was released in 2003, and the second film 'Underworld: Evolution' was released in 2006, both starring Beckinsale in the lead. 'Underworld' talks about the secret history of vampire and werewolves, where the latter are referred to as "Lycan" as an abbreviated form of lycanthrope.

'Underworld: Evolution', on the other hand, continues the conflict between vampires and Lycans, also highlighting the beginnings of the feud. According to reports, the series' third film may be a prequel.
