Washington (ANI): Scarlett Johansson has signed on for a series of roles that will see her moving through three different genres - modern relationships, comic strip and costume drama.

Johansson will first complete work on New Line Cinema's comedy He's Just Not That Into You, in which she will play a pilates instructor/aspiring singer who has an affair with a married man and hopes that he will leave his wife for her. Ken Kwapis is directing the movie, which Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen are producing via their Flower Films banner.

After this she moves on to Will Eisner's The Spirit, in which she plays a femme fatale named Silk N. Floss, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Will Eisner's The Spirit is being directed by Frank Miller for Odd Lot Entertainment and Lionsgate.

These two flicks will be followed by Mary Queen of Scots, in which she plays the Scottish monarch. The movie is a love story based on the early life Mary that focuses on her relationship with the Earl of Bothwell, and her rivalry with her half-brother James. Shooting for the film is scheduled to start in March 2008 in the UK.
