JK Rowling did not avenge husband

Kenith Branagh
Washington (ANI): Author JK Rowling has dismissed reports that the character of Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter series was based on her ex-husband. Rowling has been accused of basing Lockhart, an overly vain wizard, on her former husband Jorge Arantes, who she married in 1992. However, she insists that the speculation is not true, and that none of the characters are based on him.

She also said that she would never write anything negative about her ex as he was her elder daughter Jessica's father. "Whatever happened in our marriage, the truth is my ex-husband contributed 50 per cent to on one of the most beautiful things in my life, my eldest daughter," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying. "I'd never use him in a fairytale. He's her father," she added.

Rowling is currently married to Neil Michael Murray, an anaesthetist, and has two children – son David and daughter Mackenzie with him.
