Baptist editor slams Oprah

Washington (ANI): Oprah Winfrey seems to have landed in a religious controversy after an editor of a Baptist newspaper accused her for steering away her fans from Christianity. James A. Smith Sr., the executive editor of the Florida Baptist Witness, has claimed that the talk show queen promotes "anti-biblical" doctrine through her radio network.

Smith has targeted the media mogul for coming out in open to support for author and new age guru Marianne Williamson, who has appeared on her TV show and radio channel. Smith has written against Oprah in the newspaper accusing her of leading Christians astray.

"In America's celebrity-driven culture, perhaps the most harmful 'Pied Piper' of heresies leading millions astray is Oprah Winfrey. Her adoption of anti-biblical doctrine is on display every day this year through her satellite radio network channel Oprah + Friends," contactmusic quoted Smith, as saying. He added: "It's time for Christians to 'just say no' to the big 'O'."
