London (ANI): Hollywood star Orlando Bloom, 31, is planning to make a self-starring film about the siege of Sarajevo of the early Nineties. The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor hopes that the film will be made in the Bosnian capital. He says that the film will be based on U.S. writer Bill Carter''s memoir of living in the city during the siege, 'Fools Rush In'.

"I read the script and the very human story at the very core of this film spoke to me very clearly," the BBC quoted him as saying. Bloom even said that he would not portray Carter in the film. "Hopefully we can get this movie to be made at the end of this year. To come here and shoot would be just wonderful," he said.

If the film is made, Brazilian Andrucha Waddington will be its director, and Elliott Lewitt its producer. Meanwhile, Sarajevo''s mayor is said to have promised financial and other support for the film. Thousands died in the siege between 1992 and 1996, which saw the beleaguered city suffer a constant barrage by Bosnian Serb forces.
