Letterman's wife forced him to apologise publicly

Washington (ANI): It was Regina Lasko who demanded a public apology from her American talk show host husband David Letterman over his sexual affairs, it has emerged. The comedian issued the apology during a taping of his "Late Show with David Letterman", saying his better half had been “horribly hurt by my behavior" and that his affairs “are in the past."

But a source close to Lasko revealed that the apology "wasn"t something Dave wanted to do at all." “He wanted the whole thing to blow over," Fox News quoted the source as saying. "But Regina told him he better make an apology to let everyone know how sorry he was for how much he hurt and humiliated her," the source added.

Lasko was said to have even heard Letterman"s apology before he went on-air and was even willing to let him make “one or two jokes to be a part of it as long as they weren"t at her expense." But she was left fuming when Letterman took her concession for granted and cracked more than the agreed-upon jokes about his affairs.

The source said: “Regina felt like Dave"s humorous take on the apology lessened the sincerity of it, and she"s not happy at all."
