The Wrestler helped Evan Rachel Wood get closer to her Dad

Washington (ANI): Hollywood actress Evan Rachel Wood is apparently grateful that she played Mickey Rourke's daughter in the film The Wrestler, for she says that it has helped her address estrangement issues with her own father.

She said that her role made her face her own family problems, and helped to draw her closer to her father. She even revealed that she and her father were planning to star opposite each other in a family production of 'Romeo and Juliet" in North Carolina.

According to her, such a project would not have been possible had she not played Rourke's estranged daughter in The Wrestler. “All these issues came up that I didn't know I still had until I was forced to go there and it totally reconnected me with him (father)," Contactmusic quoted her as having told i-D magazine.

“Everything that's been pent-up over the years suddenly comes out, then you don''t talk for a while, and then you slowly reconcile. “There wasn't any closeness. We had to get to know each other again. Getting to know him now, it's like, 'Oh my God, you are so cool,"" she added.
