Michael Gambon hasn't read Harry Potter books

London (ANI): Harry Potter star Sir Michael Gambon has admitted he hasn't read any of JK Rowling's hit novels about the young wizard. Gambon, 68, known to millions as Professor Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter films, said he prefers not to read books before appearing in their screen adaptations, as it stops him from feeling disappointed about what gets left out, reports The Sun.

He said: "I've been in five Harry Potter films and never read a Harry Potter book. If you are an actor all you have is the script. If you read the book you might get disappointed about what's left out - well, that's my excuse."

He said he had not read Jane Austen - and is currently filming a BBC series on her novel Emma.
