London (ANI): Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has joined British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife Sarah in a campaign to stop women suffering injuries in childbirth. Geri, who has a daughter, Bluebell, two, has urged countries to strive for better health and midwife services.

The 36-year-old also called for every woman to have a birth attendant and emergency obstetric care. Geri and Sarah teamed up at the Commons where a report highlighted injuries that affect up to 20 million women and girls a year.

"This is not about charity. This is about our humanity," the Sun quoted Halliwell as saying. "No matter who we are - African villager or posh politician - having a healthy, educated mother has a direct, positive impact on our lives," she added.
