Washington, (ANI): Oscar winner Kate Winslet has been roped in for a mini-series based on the James M. Cain novel 'Mildred Pierce'. According to sources, HBO is the lead contender to get hold on the series, however, payweb sources said no deal has been struck. The book has earlier been turned into a film in 1945 and also won an Oscar for lead actress Joan Crawford, who played a bored housewife who gets into the restaurant business, an enterprise that leads to back-stabbing, romance and murder, reports Variety magazine.
Todd Haynes is writing and directing the film. Meanwhile, Winslet insists that she has become extra cautious ever since she has won an Oscar, as she feels the award has brought with itself the pressure to "look composed" as she climbs the ranks in Hollywood. The British actress had won the Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in 'The Reader' in 2009, after almost 12 years since she was first nominated for the coveted gong.
