Roman
Polanski
will
spend
his
house
arrest
at
the
luxury
Swiss
ski
resort
of
Gstaad
after
he
was
granted
bail
on
Nov
25.
Although,
the
filmmaker
will
be
let
out
of
jail
as
soon
as
possible,
authorities
have
kept
the
release
date
secret
to
avoid
any
media
attention.
The
release
statement
issued
by
the
Swiss
justice
department
says:
"Polanski
will
be
released
from
custody
as
soon
as
bail
has
been
transferred,
ID
and
travel
documents
have
been
lodged,
and
the
electronic
monitoring
system
has
been
installed
and
tested." Polanski
had
been
arrested
in
September
on
an
international
warrant
for
having
illegal
intercourse
with
a
minor
in
the
late
1970s.
The
Rosemary"s
Baby
director
had
pleaded
guilty
to
the
charge
but
fled
the
US
to
France
in
1978
before
he
could
be
sentenced.
Polanski''s
sister-in-law,
Mathilde
Seigner,
is
overjoyed
by
the
news.
"I
am
very
happy
and
relieved.
We''re
going
to
drink
a
nice
glass
of
champagne
and
toast
together,"

as
telling
French
newspaper

The
Swiss
government
is
yet
to
decide
if
Polanski
should
be
extradited
to
the
US
