London
(ANI):
Slumdog
Millionaire
child
star
Rubina
Ali"s
slum
has
been
demolished
to
make
way
for
a
new
railway
track.
According
to
a
family
friend,
Rubina,
10,
who
played
Latika
in
the
multiple-Oscar-winning
film,
had
begged
the
demolition
men
to
stop
as
they
smashed
down
50
shanty
shacks
with
sledgehammers
on
Dec
30.
“She
was
telling
them
This
is
my
house,
I
was
born
here," the
Telegraph
quoted
Dinesh
Dubey
as
saying.
"She
will
now
have
to
sleep
in
the
open
until
they
can
re-build
it.
She
is
worried
for
her
baby
sister
but
there
is
no
other
option
for
them,"
he
added.
However,
her
co-star
Azharuddin
Ismail
and
his
family
were
moved
from
their
neighbouring
slum
into
a
new
apartment
several
months
ago.
The
film's
producers,
Danny
Boyle
and
Christian
Colson,
have
offered
an
apartment
to
the
Ali
family
and
they
will
decide
next
month
whether
to
accept
it.
