London (ANI): Hollywood actress Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Joely Richardson have been signed up to act in BBC's remake of hit sci-fi classic The Day Of The Triffids. While Dougray Scott will play hero Dr Bill Masen, Eddie Izzard, Brian Cox and American actor Jason Priestley will also be seen in the forthcoming drama.
Filming for the two-part drama finishes in April. It is scheduled for telecast on BBC One later this year. "We are enormously excited to have secured this stellar cast for The Day Of The Triffids," the BBC quoted Executive producer Justin Bodle as saying. "Together with its amazing effects and iconic locations, it will deliver the drama mini-series event of 2009," he added.
While the 1981 version starring John Duttine and Emma Relph was written by John Wyndham, screenwriter Patrick Harbinson, who wrote for long-running US medical drama ER, has adapted the remake.
