In
a
ceremony
to
celebrate
the
60th
anniversary
of
the
Royal
Welsh
College
of
Music
and
Drama,
Hollywood
actress
Elizabeth
Taylor
presented
Prince
Charles
with
a
bust
of
her
late
ex-husband
Richard
Burton.
Prince
Charles
declared
that
the
bust
will
stand
in
the
foyer
of
a
new
theatre
at
the
college
in
Cardiff,
which
is
named
after
Burton.
The
Richard
Burton
Theatre
will
open
next
year.
It
is
part
of
a
22.5million
pound
development
project.
Taylor
said
that,
she
has
been
deeply
touched
by
the
honor
and
so
would
have
been
Burton
had
he
been
there.
She
added
that
it
is
amazing
to
be
part
of
this
celebration,
with
many
others
who
remember
and
respect
Burton
with
so
much
love
in
their
hearts.
Taylor
starred
opposite
Burton
in
Cleopatra
and
despite
being
married
to
other
people
began
a
volatile
affair.
They
married
1964
and
their
married
life
was
rarely
out
of
the
news.
They
divorced
in
1974
after
11
years
of
marriage
but
remarried
in
1975
and
again
got
divorced
next
year.
Burton
died
from
a
cerebral
hemorrhage
in
1984
at
his
home
in
Celigny,
Switzerland
at
the
age
of
58.
He
was
buried
in
a
red
suit
as
a
tribute
to
his
Welsh
roots
and
with
a
copy
of
Dylan
Thomas'
poems.
