Freida Pinto signed for Rise Of The Apes

London, (ANI): Freida Pinto has signed the Planets of the Apes prequel Rise of the Apes as primatologist Caroline.

Pinto, who rose to fame from the Slumdog Millionaire, will be the leading lady of Spider-Man hunk James Franco in the latest instalment of sci-fi series, reports the Daily Star. Movie"s cast also include funny man John Lithgow signed to play Franco's onscreen father, according to Variety.

The new series is the re-imagining of the original 1968 sci-fi classic and Tim Burton's 2001 remake had Mark Wahlberg in the lead.
