Marilyn Monroe pink gown fetches £213,000

The dresses and accessories of the Hollywood celebrities have always been a treasure for many fans. They are ready to pay unbelievable amounts to own a piece of their beloved celeb.

But, the pink gown of American actress Marilyn Monroe is really going to make a huge hole in your pocket, if you are willing to get it. The gown is regarded as the most important dress of Hollywood and has fetched a huge amount of £213,000, (about $312,000) at one of the biggest auctions held recently.

Monroe wore the size-14 pink satin gown in the 1953 movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, during the song sequence 'Diamonds are a girl's best friend". It has crossed the estimated price of £170,000.

The auction garnered huge sums of money for other items as well, turned to a huge bidding event as the carpet bag of Julie Andrews in the musical film Mary Poppins, earned £65,274, which was expected to bag only £8,000. Even the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade fetched £10,993.
