London (ANI): Indian-born TV chef Padma Lakshmi was admitted to a New York hospital after experiencing complications with her pregnancy, it has emerged. It was in October last year that author Salman Rushdie's ex-wife, 39, announced she was expecting her first child, branding the pregnancy a "medical miracle" after years of struggling with endometriosis, in which the lining of the uterus grows in other areas of the body, reports The Daily Express.

According to the New York Post''s gossip column PageSix, details of Lakshmi''s medical problem are unknown, but a source has told the publication, "The baby was in serious danger." The identity of Lakshmi"s baby daddy is not known, but new reports suggest he''s venture capitalist and Columbia Business School teacher Michael Dell.
