New
York
(ANI):
In
an
attempt
to
save
drug-dealer
Cameron
Douglas
from
harsh
prison
sentence,
step-mom
Catherine
Zeta-Jones
has
sent
a
letter
to
the
Manhattan
judge
Richard
Berman.
Zeta-Jones
wrote
in
her
letter
that
Cameron
deserved
placement
in
a
treatment
facility
-
not
a
long
prison
term,
reports
the
New
York
Daily
News.
"I
use
the
word
'disease'.
My
stepson
is
a
caring,
considerate
worthy
human
being,
but
never
the
less,
the
disease
that
for
years
he
has
tried
to
combat,
did
take
over
again," she
wrote.
"What
is
wrong
is
wrong,
but
may
all
these
positive
attributes
prevail,
so
that
a
facility
that
he
is
positioned
in
will
help
rehabilitate
him,"
she
added
Cameron"s
grandfather
Kirk
Douglas
wrote
in
his
letter:
"I
remember
when
he
played
a
part
in
the
movie
with
me
and
Michael.
He
was
a
natural.
We
were
so
proud.
I
was
shocked
when
he
got
in
such
a
mess.
I
am
convinced
that
Cameron
could
be
a
fine
actor
and
a
person
that
cares
for
others.
I
hope
I
can
see
that
happen
before
I
die.
I
love
Cameron."
Cameron,
who
has
pleaded
guilty
for
drug
dealing,
will
be
sentenced
on
April
27.
