Antje Traue to play female villain Faora in Man of Steel

Actress Antje Traue has reportedly been the latest addition to the star cast of the new Superman project. According to sources, the German actress is likely to essay the role of a female villain Faora in upcoming movie Superman: Man of Steel, which is scheduled to release in 2012.

Faora is the name of several female super-villains in DC Comics Superman titles. All of them have some connection to Superman's home planet of Krypton. There are mainly two Faora characters. Now, it is not clear which Faora character Antje Traue would play in Superman: Man of Steel.

Faora is the one introduced in Action Comics #471. The Faora a.k.a. Faora Hu-Ul is a beautiful Kryptonian woman with an intense unexplained hatred for all men. Another Faora is introduced in Action Comics #779. She is a Pokolistanian aide of General Zod, and an orphan metahuman whose ability is to disrupt molecular bonds. Sources claim that Antje Traue would play the second Faora.

However, Antje Traue made her debut in English movies through Pandorum in 2009 and she has received lots of accolades for her performance in the film. The German actress' next English film would be an action drama 5 Days of August. Superman: Man of Steel would be her third movie in English.
