Catherine Hardwicke to direct Bitch Posse

After the movie Red Riding Hood, Catherine Hardwicke, who is known for directing Twilight movie, has signed her next project. Her upcoming directorial venture The Bitch Posse is an adaptation of Martha O'Connor's novel. According to reports, Tristine Skyler will write the screenplay for the movie.

The Bitch Posse is a psychological drama, which switches between high school years and adulthood. Hardwicke has already worked on such subject in films like Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown and she knows how to handle the subject matter. Virginia Madsen and Karly Meola will produce along with Miranda Bailey and Matthew Leutwyler through their Ambush Entertainment banner.

The story focuses on three friends, Cherry, Amy and Rennie, as high school seniors and as women in their mid-30s. Coming from troubled homes, they form a dangerous alliance called the Bitch Posse. Something occurs that rips apart the friendship and haunts them into adulthood. One of them ends up in a mental institution, one is a promiscuous failed writer and the other is having trouble in her marriage.
