Colin Firth wins Best Actor at the Empire Film Awards

Actor Colin Firth, who has already won Golden Globe, Oscar, Bafta and SAG awards for his wonderful performance in The King's Speech, has now bagged the Best Actor at the Jameson Empire Film Awards 2011, which was held in London last night. But The King's Speech lost out the Best Film award to Inception.

Noomi Rapace bagged the Best Actress award, while Teenage star Chloe Moretz walked away with the Best Newcomer award at the ceremony in the Grosvenor House Hotel which was hosted by comic Dara O Briain. The Last Exorcism won the Best Horror film on the occasion.

However, the annual Empire Movie Awards was started in 1995 by Empire, which is the Britain's biggest selling film magazine. It was sponsored by Sony Ericsson until 2009. Now, Jameson is now sponsoring the show these years. The awards are decided on the votes cast by readers of the magazine. Hollywood celebs like Sarah Harding, Jonathan Ross, Gary Oldman, actress Lily Cole and many others attended this years' award ceremony.
