Will Liz Taylor's funeral be picketed by Westboro?

The funeral of Hollywood Dame Elizabeth Taylor, who died of congestive heart problems on Wednesday, is now facing a threat after Westboro Baptist Church, headed up by the Phelps family, directed its rhetoric at Hollywood. On her Twitter page, Margie Phelps, daughter of Fred Phelps, has announced she has planned picket Liz's funeral.

Westboro Baptist Church is a Kansas-based small church, which is headed up by Fred Phelps. The group has been engaged in raising its voice against homosexuality for many years. It had even threatened the funerals of Heath Ledger and Natasha Richardson. It has notoriously picketed the funerals of fallen US soldiers as part of a crusade against homosexuality. Now, it is said to be picketing the funeral of Liz Taylor.

Elizabeth Taylor was a tireless advocate for AIDS awareness and research and is revered by the gay community for her support and philanthropy. As an AIDS advocate, her work has apparently captured the focus of Westboro"s attention. On Wednesday, Margie Phelps expressed her anger and hatredness against the Hollywood star by posting two tweets on her account.

On her Twitter page, she wrote, "RIP Elizabeth Taylor is in hell as sure as you're reading this & getting mad as a wet hen. She should've obeyed God. Too late!" In her next post, she also made it clear about her plans to picket the actress' funeral. She further tweeted, "No RIP Elizabeth Taylor who spent her life in adultery and enabling proud f-gs. They cuss her in hell today. #Westboro will picket funeral!"

It is said that Westboro group has been as offensive as possible and making hate talks, but it has not proven dangerous. Despite threats, the group had apparently no-shows at Richardson's funeral, and Ledger's funeral in Australia. It seems to be intending to get attention and the media coverage. Fred Phelps and his vitriolic anti-gay followers are simply trying to exploit their so-called 'faith' by spreading messages of hate.

However, Elizabeth Taylor was diagnosed with heart decease in 2004 and had undergone a heart surgery in 2009. She was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, where she breathed her last. Recently, the violet eyed beauty had said that she wanted to be buried next to two-time husband Richard Burton in Wales. Sources claim that a private funeral ceremony will be held at the same place.
