Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is reportedly playing a cameo role in the big screen version of Fox's TV series '21 Jump Street'. Depp had essayed the role of Officer Tom Hansen on the TV version and he shot to fame after it. But now, it is not clear about the role that he plays in its big screen adaptation.

According to sources, Johnny Depp himself has confirmed the wild rumor about his appearance in '21 Jump Street', but he has not revealed anything specifically about his role. Meanwhile, the movie, which is produced by Columbia Pictures, is currently in production. It is scheduled to release on March 16, 2012.

However, '21 Jump Street' is an American crime drama series that was aired on the Fox Network from 1987 to 1991. The story revolves around a group of young cops, whose youthful appearance allows them to work undercover in high schools and colleges and search out troubled kids. Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, its big screen adaptation will feature Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in the lead roles.
